Every two years the Texas Legislature meets for 140 days to file, discuss and pass legislation.  Some of the new statutes have impact on law enforcement. Changes are sometimes made to the Public Information Act, Employment Law under Texas statutes and Civil Service specifically 143.

As a result, the Texas Police Chiefs Association in conjunction with agency and city legal advisors along with private employment law attorneys offer a comprehensive look at the new statutes. It is also a refresher on current law and court cases affecting open records, employment law and 143.
